Seventeen years of Oregon excellence and inspired winemaking.

Michael Lundeen

Co-Owner, Winegrower, Winemaker

"Michael is one of the most original voices in the "younger" generation of Willamette Valley producers. His wines are distinct, delicious and of equal importance, humbly priced. Lundeen is one of our favorite “Insider” wineries. We like Michael Lundeen’s style, which we’d describe as part rustic and part elegant.

After a recent visit and tasting, I am convinced: Michael Lundeen is the most underrated winemaker in Oregon. It's not his Pinot noirs and Chardonnays that tipped the scales, though they are exceptional and nearly equal in their underrated status. It is Lundeen's sparkling wines—they are transcendent. I mean that in two ways: firstly they are utterly magnificent. Secondly, they are so sublime that they transcend the conversation of what they are not (Champagne). I submit to you, all lovers of things that sparkle, the newest and most compelling evidence yet of Lundeen's brilliance: his tiny batch of Willamette Valley Brut Rose 4-year en tirage. It is light-years the best Willamette Valley Brut Rose I've tasted and you are unlikely to hear or read about it anywhere else. Thank goodness for the underrated nature of it so that we can have more to ourselves. If you enjoy Brut Rose you should absolutely have this in your fridge."

Desiree Lundeen

Partner

Desiree and Michael first met in Portland in 2004 through mutual friends. Through international harvests, college graduations, and all that life brings with time, they married in 2010 at their family farm located just outside McMinnville. In 2011 they grew their family as they welcomed a son.

Desiree has always looked for ways to serve her community including working in public service for Yamhill County for nearly a decade and now as a kindergarten teacher.

Her love of wine was born out of her relationship with Michael who helped open her eyes to the science and art of winemaking and appreciation despite her limited knowledge when they first began dating. It has been a great joy for her to watch Lundeen Wines grow over the past two decades in a community that truly is home.

Javier Zuniga

Cellar Supervisor

Javier has worked alongside Michael in the cellar for nearly ten years. He came onboard right in time for the unforgettably challenging 2013 harvest, but luckily the experience didn’t scare him off. His skill in the cellar and knowledge of the winery’s nuances are assets that only come with time, dedication and years of hard work. Javier has been Cellar Supervisor since 2018; while some of the most impressive wines to date have been produced under his care, his predecessor was a better forklift driver. Javier’s sense of humor is what every cellar needs and his canny ability to assign nicknames, especially to interns, is an art form.
