2022 'Patricia' Sparkling Muscat

2022 'Patricia' Sparkling Muscat

$50.00

"I named this beautiful wine after my dear mother Patricia. I planted the grapes myself with my dad at our Poverty Bend Vineyard estate more than 10 years ago and soon discovered that this late ripening cultivar of Muscat was perfect for making sparkling wine. The profoundly aromatic potential of this grape transforms beautifully within the traditional method of sparkling to radiate poise and elegance, just like mom." - Michael Lundeen

vinification

100% of the base wine is Muscat Blanc à Petit Grains (a superior clone of Muscat long celebrated in Alsace, France), harvested and placed en tirage for three years. Hand-disgorged. Muscat is a incredibly aromatic varietal that is rarely seen in a Méthode Champenoise sparkling wine. Inside the glass, you’ll find notes of orange blossoms, pineapple, and starfuit. In short, this wine both smells and tastes like spring in a glass.

vintage

2022 was a wild roller coaster ride with a spectacular finish. After a profoundly damaging spring frost the summer picked up the slack and delivered not only a bountiful crop, but also gave beautiful weather all the way into October, helping us get everything beautifully ripe. Grapes were healthy and balanced, with flavors developed well beyond typical for the modest sugar levels. Some outstanding wines of all types.
