Winter’s Hill Vineyard was originally planted in 1990 by Peter and Emily Gladhart. The own-rooted Pommard clone vines are the source for this wine. Clusters are hand-harvested. 100% destemmed and cold soaked prior to an uninoculated fermentation on skins spanning 20 days. Extraction included a minimum of three rounds of daily pump overs and punch downs.
Aged in a mix of once-filled and neutral French oak barrels. 75 cases produced.

tasting
“Light ruby red color in the glass. Shy fragrance of cherry and fertile earth. Light to medium bodied wine with a juicy core of black cherry fruit. Matching tannins make for easy approachability, and the wine finishes with some intensity and length.”
region
The Dundee Hills is home to Oregon’s flagship dirt, Jory. Basalt-based and volcanic in origin, Jory soils are easily recognizable by its iron-rich reddish color. The silty clay loam is nutrient-rich and almost sticky in nature due to its ability to retain water. Predominantly found in the Dundee Hills and smaller pockets in the surrounding AVAs, wines from Jory soils are bright and high-toned with distinct red cherry flavors and voluminous perfume notes that present an almost candied profile.
