The Pinot Noir is sourced from La Cantera Vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains (Oregon). The planting of La Cantera (“The Quarry”) began over 30 years ago and has grown to over 28 acres of LIVE Certified Sustainable Pinot Noir. LCV sits above Rex Hill Winery with a S/SW aspect that tops out at nearly 690’ above sea level. The unique wind-deposited Laurelwood soils of the Chehalem Mountains leave a distinct signature on the resulting wines. This Oregon Pinot Noir is located in the Laurelwood District.

The rich fruit profile that defines the 2016 vintage compliments the subtle spice and bramble undertones that define the vineyard. Not since the 2012 La Cantera release have we seen such energy and complexity. Tannins are nicely integrated but robust enough for aging.
vintage
Following relatively ideal back-to-back vintages, 2016 had big shoes to fill. Harvest came even earlier than the previous year, while the days were still warm, sunny and long. Crops were healthy and balanced, yields were low, and flavors expressive. Achieving ripeness was never an issue! With late season attention being fixed on retaining natural balance.
